100% SUSTAINABLE MICRO-RESORT - CIRCA 2017

Trading under the brand Two Canoes, this pioneering development represented Vanuatu’s very first ecologically, culturally, and environmentally responsible tourism initiative. All staff members were recruited from local villages, ensuring that the project benefits the community directly. Additionally, the majority of the produce used in the restaurant was sustainably sourced from within a 10km radius, promoting local agriculture and reducing the carbon footprint. Furthermore, both water and solar energy were harvested on-site, emphasising the commitment to environmental stewardship.

The development incorporated appropriate modern building technology, which served to minimise the environmental footprint while also effectively mitigating the impacts of various natural perils. The design of the retreat, along with its elements and furniture, reflects this "modern" approach.

The restaurant and beach bar patrons enjoyed a unique blend of raw natural beauty paired with a lively family ‘house party’ atmosphere, creating an environment that encouraged guests to truly relax, socialise, and be themselves. At Uncharted Travel Group, we understand and respect the crucial importance of food to any travel experience, which is why our guests delighted in a vibrant selection of fresh organic vegetables and garden-fresh salads that perfectly complemented the freshest local land and hand-caught sea produce available.

The modular guest rooms were high quality, aluminium framed and clad, relocatable, lightweight, very strong and robust, weather and storm resistant. This is a state of the art architecturally designed system was detailed and engineered to meet the requirements of the Australian Building Code and relevant Australian Standards. The alloy frames were impervious to termite and pest attack and are fire resistant; with the footings being capable of withstanding cyclonic and earthquake conditions.
